Move the tail center

Move the tail center to one of the other marks made on the center line.

Make sure the tool rest clears the wood

Make sure the tool rest clears the wood. The offset will only be a little but it may seem dramatic at first.

Turn away part of the ghost

Turn away part of the ghost. I use a blue sheet of foam under the lathe to see the ghost better. Remember not to turn away all of the ghost as this will just give you a strange offset and round handle while we want an oval handle.

Move the tail center

Move the tail center to the other mark.

Repeat the turning process

Repeat the process on the other side. This leaves a distinctly oval shape to the handle. Move the tail center back to the center mark and refine any beads as necessary. Sand now if necessary.
