| A different perspective lets us see that the edges are indeed chipping but they are starting to form. The sides should end up about 3/16" or a touch less. |

| As much as possible given the size of the opening through which I can reach, I use the straight tool, a 1/4" Oland here. A soft cut to the side leaves a small ridge that can be followed down to remove the wood. |

| So far the tools used have been the 1/4" Oland and the 3/16" 45° tool in the arm brace. |

| However, the bottom is already a 5" overhang from the tool rest and the tool is starting to grab a lot when cleaning the bottom. It will be time to move to the smaller 3/16" tool. |

| Between turning times I leave a plastic bag over the piece. It is so dry that there is no moisture inside the bag, but I feel it still helps to equalize the stresses of the wood at least as far as moisture is concerned and every little bit helps. |
