I had these 2 commercial 3" sanding disks for a long time before I started making my own.
So long in fact that the Velcro wore off one. No sense throwing it away. I just glued on some new Velcro and it worked just fine.
I put the boxes back on the shelf and emptied the bottom of the stand. Most of this is grinder related. Extra wheels including some worn ones that are about to be thrown out accompany a home made single point diamond stone dresser and a Veritas grinder jig.
The bottom of the grinder stand was made to hold a bottom drawer which in turn would hold a bag of sand. Sand acts not only as needed weight but also as a stabilizing motion damper.
This is about 30 pounds of sand.
And this is the bottom shelf in place. The base is a bit bowed and one day I should replace it
